Long Island Football Influencer

[These are the movers and shakers of Long Island Youth Football that we wish to honor. They are Coaches, Recruiters, Parents, NFL/NCAA players, and dedicated people doing things in and outside their communities to elevate the level of football on Long Island. These people do not all have 20 years of experience, fancy alma maters, or superstar backgrounds. Many of them do; but what they all have in common is more important than that: they all put in many hours dedicated to the cause. This is time spent away from their families, sacrificing, working hard to to gain more exposure for players on Long Island, and creating new opportunities for them. Their passion and dedication is fueling the new movement that is getting people on Long Island excited about football. #JoinTheLiyfaMovement]

John Campolettano has been involved with youth coaching since the 1960’s. He has coached baseball, and football for many years. He originally began coaching his younger brother Tom Compolettano who coincidentally was inducted into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation  Hall of Fame. John became very involved in youth football, and later began an important relationship with the Stony Brook University football program. He worked from ground zero with Fred Kempt when Stonybrook only had a “club team”. According to John, the school didn’t have many varsity sports in the late 1970’s early 80’s, and he helped connect them with guys that were interested in playing club football there. “I did the dog work for the guys at Stonybrook, I was willing to do whatever they asked of me to be involved. Whatever they needed help with to build up the program, I did.” Later Sam Kornhauser took over, followed by Chuck Priore, and John remains at their disposal to this day to help with whatever he can. The pattern here is that John Compolletanno is basically willing to do anything he can to help kids in the Long Island region excel to the next level. He’s a fixture at most Long Island football events, and is the owner of LI Blitz website, which is of huge value to coaches, players, and parents in the region. He also founded the Long Island Mariners and New York Diamonds elite baseball teams.
