1. It’s the Safest. They have virtually endless safety resources driven by USA Football and the NFL. What this means to families is that their most prized possession will be taught Heads up Football and the most innovative techniques to avoid getting injured. It also means state-of-the-art equipment, high school and college caliber referees, and coaches that have had background checks, are certified, and mandated to continuing education.

2. Ages are Legally Verified. Players ages are legally and officially verified. No other league in the region scrutinizes this more closely, requiring a notarized legal birth affidavit to be submitted for each player. The birth cut-off date is November 15. Players should not be allowed to play down, and it happens all the time in leagues across america where a player misses the age cut-off but sneaks onto a roster. In some cases the player only misses the age cut-off by a few days, and in egregious cases months. It is an unfair advantage, and more importantly sends the wrong message to the players involved. Teams in leagues where the governing body does not have a legal, thorough means of verifying players ages can have numerous violations and it is unfair to the rest of the teams in the league from both a safety and competitive standpoint. Unfortunately it happens all too frequently in other leagues. Not in Suffolk County PAL.
3. There are No Weight Limits. The reality is that Football is a game where size and aggressiveness shine. There is no if, ands, or buts about it. Imposing weight limits could build a false sense of confidence in young players leading potentially to disastrous results later on when they progress to playing at a level where there are no weight restrictions. Learning the game in an unrestricted weight environment allows players to adapt naturally to the game, learn the qualities of each position accurately, and be shuffled into roles that are a natural fit for their size, weight, and ability. There is no existing evidence that unlimited classes are riskier than weighted classes. (read more)

4. It’s Real Football. Ages 7 and up play by modified High School(NYSPHSAA) rules.

5. Best Competition. Suffolk County PAL Youth Football caters to all levels of play. They have beginner and intermediate divisions, but if you love competition SCPAL Division I is the place to be.  The Division I program (formerly called the Patriot Division) has the best competition of any league from metropolitan New York to Montauk. Why? In addition to holding their coaches to extreme standards, there are sometimes 30-40 teams in an age division. Naturally these levels of enrollment breed the best scenario for competition. Real New York bragging rights go to the teams that register and officially play a full season of SCPAL Division I football and rise to the top.

6. It’s the Most Fun. Suffolk County PAL Youth Football offers Long Island families hours of entertainment. There are plenty of events for players, coaches, and team moms offered throughout the year including the only full-equipment/full-contact summer camp in the region.

7. Integrity. Things are done old school at PAL. Today there is an APP for everything and technology seems to have pervaded every facet of society, occasionally overshadowing what’s important: values. Not so at SCPAL. The people at Suffolk County PAL Football are dedicated, passionate volunteers, who are in it for the right reasons. The kids are the core of everything they do, and they practice fairness, integrity, and honesty in all affairs. It’s not the old boys club. They are open-minded and happily welcome new volunteers. As any town rep can attest who has attended the weekly PAL meetings, they are a great example of the organization wide camaraderie and courtesy.

8. Leadership & People. Take a look at the names and football experience that are part of the organization. It’s a who’s who of Long Island Football experts. There are great coaches on the board, and also a diverse group of dedicated volunteers. There are no egos to deal with, no snobbishness or conceit; just a group of nice people always willing to help.

9. Organization. Suffolk County PAL Football is managed like a good company. They plan ahead, hold regular meetings, expectations are laid out clearly, and execution is good. One of their best qualities is that they are progressive and always doing things to make the league safer, more fun, (and more competitive for the football nuts in Division I.)

10. Superbowls. Division I SuperBowls are played at the Suffolk County PAL Sports Complex Stadium and accompanied by a festive atmosphere and hundreds of spectators.
