LIYFA is excited to be supporting the FBU National Championship. The FBU National Championship is considered as the premier youth post season tournament with over 64 regionals participating.  Each region builds a 6th, 7th and 8th grade all-star team to compete in the FBU National Championship. Team LI is hosting the first two rounds of this national tournament at Walt Whitman High School Saturday Dec 5 and Sunday Dec 6th.  All-star team from New Jersey and New York will be competing for the FBU Metro Bowl Tittle and bit to continue to Rounds 3 in West Virginia. Come watch the Empire State Game between Team NY (Westchester, Dutchess and Putnam County team) with Team Long Island. Kickoff times are every 2 hours starting at 8:00 am. The FBU National Championship kicks off December 5th at 16 venues across America, with the winners advancing to round 2 on December 6th. The structure of the Football University (FBU) National Championship is a combination of the Little League World Series and the NCAA March Madness. The single-elimination tournament, features 192-region-based teams (64-teams in each age bracket – 6th, 7th and 8th grade) comprised of the top 30 all-star athletes from their area who had to try out to earn a roster spot. The first four rounds will take place at regional sites, with the semifinals and championship weekend set for December 20th – 22nd in Naples, Florida for the final four teams in each age bracket. 
Youth athletes from the New York Region have been given the extraordinary honor of participating in the tournament beginning Saturday, December 5, 2015. These sixth graders, seventh graders, and eighth graders have been selected to play for a Football University (FBU) team in each of their grade levels. Each team, comprised of top football players from all over the region, will be competing in full contact football games with the ultimate goal of advancing to the Championship in Naples. 
Southern New Jersey, Northern New Jersey, New York, and Long Island teams will begin the tournament on Saturday, December 5th. The full detailed schedule can be found at www.fbunc.com

This year’s tournament marks the fourth year of the biggest youth football event to date, with 192 teams nationwide, including more than 250 games, 6,000 athletes, and 1,200 coaches. The tournament will showcase 250 games through a three-week period, resulting in more than 1,000 hours of play.

LIYFA is a non-partisan group of the most passionate Leaders, Coaches, Parents, and Players in Long Island Youth Football. These are people who Live, Eat, Sleep, and Breathe FOOTBALL, who have joined together to raise the level of exposure for the region. The sole mission is to raise the level of play, raise the level of exposure, and provide more opportunities for Long Island players who think this is the greatest game on earth. In the past 2 years exposure for Long Island football players, teams, leagues & coaches has increased as a result of LIYFA efforts. More NCAA and NFL players have gotten involved with local youth programs on Long Island in the past two years then in the previous 5 years combined! Travel select teams have been born, the number of camps, clinics, and combines has increased, and the gap between youth and high school is being bridged.
